Explore the Mar Menor on a Kayak Safari; learn about area and it's wildlife.
We can take you on an excursion tailored to your fitness and ability.
The lagoon of the Mar Menor has many islands and beaches, kayaks provide the ideal vehicle to explore as the water is very shallow in many areas. All of our safaris are private to your group and are scheduled on demand. We run trips for families, corporate groups, couples or individuals; the maximum group size is 12 but groups of up to 16 can take part in combined activities.
The safari involves some instruction on the beach and then an excursion to a beach or one of the islands on the Mar Menor with a chance to go snorkelling and explore the wildlife. More experienced kayakers can take a trip on to the Mediterranean, known here as the Mar Mayor.
We use "sit on" style kayaks which are suitable for those new to kayaking and also fun for those who have been before. We have a variety of single and double kayaks and encourage everyone to have a go in both types; the singles require more stamina while the doubles some level of teamwork and coordination!
The kayaks are very stable and comfortable and the double seaters are particularly suitable for parents with children or those who lack confidence.
"...just a short note to tell you how much fun we had on our kayak safari, both the children really enjoyed it and definitely want to try a longer trip next time. Your introduction to snorkelling was fantastic and on the back of you sharing your knowledge of where to find the different types of fish "
Kayak Safaris normally run for between 2 to 4 hours; various destinations and itineraries are possible. The exact route of a Kayak Safari will be determined on the day depending on wind and weather conditions. The amount of time spent paddling and snorkelling is entirely up to you. We take all our trips at your pace!
We run most of our Kayak Safaris on the Mar Menor which is very safe, warm and shallow. Experienced kayakers can take a trip to various Mediterranean beaches or even the Calblanque National Park. The shorter safaris are suitable for children age 5 and above; children under the age of 16 should normally be accompanied by an adult however exceptions are possible.
Suitable for groups that include young children. Also suitable for first time kayakers or those who just want a gentle potter!
We will paddle to a nearby beach where we can stop to go snorkelling or swimming. We take maps and animal identification charts with us so you can learn about the area and it's wildlife.
Suitable for adults or families with teenage children.
The extra time allows us to explore a little further and see more of the Mar Menor. We often visit an island during this trip where we can climb to the top and get a great view of the area. We also have some time to snorkel and swim.
This trip is not available during July & August
Suitable for those who have previous kayaking experience are relatively fit and want to get some exercise.
We can visit an island on the Mar Menor and if the sea is calm head out onto the Mediterranean. Alternatively we can take the kayaks to the Calblanque Natural Park or Cabo de Palos where we can explore the beautiful scenery and enjoy some wave surfing.
